As a science graduate I think that worldwide, separately or together, companies and political parties are downplaying the possible and or probable reality of it and I think that climate change is upon us like it or not.

Elected (?) and self-installed [hur hur] leaders cannot care to give a damn about GW, to me anyway.

Reports via TV and newspapers, published studies, ongoing research all appear to get ignored. Or just flamed.

Do you think companies getting tax breaks on mining activities are a good idea? There's plenty of spin on why it is, don't you worry about it. Just pay up. Meanwhile.

If local events playing out like early blooms in say vineyards worldwide, or the 'retreating' glaciers [glaciers are not retreating as per war parties- but just melting away in front of you like ice blocks in summer on a tabletop and flowing over the edge to fill your floor], then obviously, plainly, to me, there is something going on.

Ha. Retreating is the idea of countries trying to keep the lid on pollution- that's what it is after all.

The first public published tracking (?) of atmospheric change in internet-based web pages was on the carbon dioxide numbers, logged in remoter parts of the world away from polluted populated areas was, I think, before the year 2000.

I saw a piece about it a long time ago now, before it broke the 400ppm benchmark. Say, 390ppm?

There's already been flooding in the surrounding suburbs up a nearby river, I have a dim memory of nearly recent reports the new high-rises having close calls about possible(?) ingress at entrance lobbies.

The suburban area to the immediate south over the river is mostly only a few meters above sea-level, let alone the suburban areas southeast and southwest along Port Philip Bay.

Adelaide's coastal suburbs are not much better off. Other Australia capital city suburbs are more than likely in the same boat.

The Indonesians maybe on a different route as far as looking after a place to govern from- moving the political center of things to higher ground, East Kalimantan on the island of Borneo- Nusantara. 48m above sea level. (reminder- if all the ice melts- sea level rises about sixty meters or more. (ooh. Mara Lago compound only 2 to 3 meters ASL, hmm.)

As a person long interested in geomorphology and now even a grandfather, I don't want this awful future but at the same time I cannot wait to see the future either way- saved or ruined.

Covid was pretty bad but sea level rise in the near future will be a game changer for our super civilisation, don't you think?

 Situation for western world 2025- bleak.

Quite a few articles I have perused since 2015 and much more recently have led me to that conclusion.

From previous posts I have indicated (or not) I have read a lot of the spy-v-spy genre, a fair bit of the science fiction and fantasy genres, general fiction as well as interesting science and popular science books and magasines. And a few newspapers, e-posts, podcasts, the list is longer than I thought. My imagination is running riotously at the moment, in a depressing direction.

Most of the stories end up in a positive light- there are a few that do not.

Many articles in pop-sci are a useful indicator of future trends. 

All are a reminder that knowing history helps prepare for the future. Or does it? Can it, indeed?

So, I ask.

WTF are people doing in good ole usa these days? 

And some other former democracies?

People meaning the whole adult thinking populations.

Only "about" half these populations want the dickhead elected leader anyway- so divide the countries in two and make it easy to keep the indoctrinated in a limited area. 

Ha. Imagine that joyless little neighborhood- be like what I have read about E.Germany a few years ago. Wait. Oh no. Again, oh. No, it's gone.

A repeat of post Julius Ceaser times- a decline of society/community where people are not people but exploitation targets or commodities.

Where destroying a symbol of a hated enemy is SOOO much worse than the stupidity of mass killing of innocents with you would think was an outlaw-able device.

that managed to lead the world(?) in an upward technological and nearly improving society/humanity-

a worldwide reaching communicating computer on my wrist,

a vast trading network that once only needed a container ship to block a canal-

or a worldwide pandemic-

to halt it in its tracks.Being ruined, in my opinion.

All of the olde USA, RIP. And WTF- how do reasonably educated people with attached freedoms allow this to happen. I mean, 300 plus million people are letting their country become a ShitHole? Really?

I am guessing- or postulating there will arise a certain control of people, creepy molesting bullying nightmarish, a regime that we have all seen before.

For example, Germany is probably still suffering for allowing its society to be derailed nine decades ago.

More recently.

Uganda, Kampuchea, eastern Europe, South America.

The Philippines even.

These places weathered derailing for want of a better word that does not include an inappropriate adverb(s) and adjective(S) to highlight how much went wrong.

My limited exposure to the (real?) world has included learning to read, to add, subtract, divide and multiply, to appreciate and learn from history, to see a bit of the world.

From the world news, they are derailing education in the olde USA. As I said before, educated peeps letting it happen?

Does the newish TrumpetWideWorld view mean improving the world, or what exactly?

Tariffs help The State coffers imo, not the consumer in any way.

I see a bloody civil war between educated haves and have-not-quite-as-much, and probably worse, a bloody uprising by the not-have-anythings, and the rest of the world will definitely suffer for it.

And I reckon this rightism spreading insidiously around the world to get worse. The leftists will probably be as bad. 

Shit on the world, I think we will be grieving for our grandchildren. Or starting to right now. It will be the end of the world as we know it, unless it is the inevitableness of any aspiring civilizations- learn, build, use, ruin.

 When I first heard than a tv dickhead was going for the white house, and it carried on, it occurred to me that a bunch of highschooler misfits, spoilt brats, losers or dropouts or cheaters- or combo, was trying something out, a prank that should really have misfired, but the adults in the room were staring at themselves (hard to do if the head is actually up the anus) in the mirror- 'ooh, how cool are we, don't need to discipline the kids anymore- we have tv/internet?' to bloody stop it in its tracks.
